Future date: The tool computes the exact time remaining until midnight on that date and starts a live countdown showing days, hours, minutes, and seconds. The figures update every second.
Past date: The calculator switches to a different view — it shows how long you have been married in years, months, and days, displays your current traditional anniversary name, and shows the date of your next upcoming anniversary.
What the Countdown Shows
- Days — the number of full days remaining until your wedding
- Hours — remaining hours after the full days are subtracted
- Minutes — remaining minutes after the hours are subtracted
- Seconds — updates live, every second
Below the countdown the tool also displays the full wedding date with the day of the week, which is handy for sharing with guests or vendors.
Wedding Anniversaries
Every year of marriage has a traditional name tied to a material or theme. The names originate from medieval European customs and were popularised in the 19th century. Gift-givers would bring presents made from the symbolic material; today the names are mostly used for celebration and milestone recognition.

The years in between (16th–19th, 21st–24th, and so on) do not have universally agreed names in the traditional English system, though some modern guides assign them. The calculator shows the ordinal year for those milestones without a theme name.
Wedding Planning Tips
A concrete day count makes it easier to stay on schedule. Here are the standard milestones most planners follow:
- 12–18 months out — book the venue and set the date
- 9–12 months out — hire a photographer, caterer, and officiant
- 6–8 months out — send save-the-dates; begin dress and suit fittings
- 3–4 months out — confirm the menu, flowers, and décor
- 4–6 weeks out — send final RSVPs and confirm headcount with vendors
- 1 week out — confirm arrival times, do a rehearsal, and hand off the timeline to your coordinator
